The Hurricane Report Part 8 | Late Night Conversation

Santos stood in her shower, letting the hot water wash away the evidence of the most insane day of her life. Her phone vibrated on the bathroom counter.

Woman standing in her bathroom looking down at her phone

Text from Ramirez: “For the record, Tsunami it came down too hard.”

Santos laughed and typed back: “Oh, so you WEREN’T hard earlier? Good to know you’ve been holding back.”

Ramirez: “Santos, I haven’t even shown you what I can really do.”

Santos: “Is that a threat or a promise?”

Ramirez: “Yes m, both.”

Santos: “I’m going to need a stronger vocabulary. And possibly a medical professional on standby.”

Ramirez: “Tomorrow. 7 PM. dinner and conversation. I promise to be a gentleman.”

Santos: “For how long?”

Ramirez: “At least through appetizers.”

Santos: “I’ll take it. But Ramirez?”

Ramirez: “Yeah?”

Santos: “Thank you. For finding me tonight. For saving me.”

Pause for about 3 minutes then he returned the text.

Ramirez: “Always, Santos. Hurricane, Tsunami, whatever you want to call it—I’ve got you. Always no matter what.”

Santos smiled at her phone, her heart doing ridiculous things in her chest.

She was definitely in trouble.

The best kind of trouble.
