4. Examine the agreement. Gerald looked at the contract that he had been sent from the seller. He looked out for any suspicious clauses and was aware of any contingencies or conditions that were imposed upon him. 


5. Trust your instincts. Last but not least, Gerald trusted his instincts. If something felt off or the situation seemed too good to be true, Gerald chose to step away and avoid getting scammed. 


Gerald was so thankful for the five steps he took to ensure he was not being taken advantage of by a fake NFT. He made his purchase and was happy with the outcome. Gerald’s due diligence saved him from falling victim to a potential scam.
