Once upon a time, In the 50’s there was a young lovely couple, Ruth and Charles. They were newly weds, and they had always dreamt of living in a peaceful and friendly neighborhood. They were an African American couple, coming from Louisiana and back then, it was rare to see people of color living in affluent neighborhoods.

One day, Ruth and Charles stumbled upon a charming little town called Corte Madera, California. It was surrounded by mountains and greenery, and it had a great sense of community. The couple fell in love with the town the first day and decided to move there.

As they were moving in, Ruth and Charles realized that they were one of the first if not the first African American couples to live in Corte Madera. It was not an easy journey for them, as they faced various challenges and discrimination. They were met with unwelcoming glares and sneers, and many people didn't believe that they belonged in the community.

Despite the hostility they received, Ruth and Charles remained calm and persevered. They focused on building their new home and becoming an integral part of the community. They made friends, joined groups, and participated in local events.

Soon enough, their warmth, kindness, and dedication began to win over the hearts of their neighbors. They started receiving invitations to neighborhood parties, and their children became friends with other kids in the town.

As time passed, Ruth and Charles had become the most loved couple in Corte Madera. They had broken down barriers and paved the way for more African Americans to move into the town. They had become trailblazers, inspiring people to open their minds and hearts.

Ruth and Charles never let the challenges they faced dampen their spirits. Instead, they embraced their differences and shared their rich culture and experiences with others. They were a shining example of resilience, kindness, and love.

Today, their legacy lives on in Corte Madera, and the town continues to thrive with people from different backgrounds living together in harmony. All thanks to the bravery and courage of Ruth and Charles, married for over 25 years was one of the first African American couple to move to Corte Madera.
