Lisa's presence lingered like a black cloud over Keith and Lena's home. She had been quiet since the daycare incident, but Lena sensed it was only a temporary ceasefire. Keith had promised to talk to her, but Lena wondered if his words could get through her thick skull.
Days turned into weeks, and Emma settled into her daily routine at Head Start. Lena dropped her off each morning, talking to her teacher and other parents and staff members. But she couldn't shake the feeling that Lisa could be was watching, and waiting for an opportunity to strike.
One chilly morning, as Lena was putting Emma winter coat on, Lisa appeared at there house standing by there gate. She was staring at Keith, who stood frozen, keys dangling from his hand.
"Keith," Lisa said, her voice was so sweet. "I miss you."
Emma go inside for mommy so me and Keith can talk grown up business with Lisa. Ok mommy Emma responded. Lena's jaw clenched. She'd rehearsed this moment—the confrontation she hoped would never come. But now, faced with Lisa's cruel lips and aggressive stare, her mind went blank. It’s go time!
Keith stepped between them. "Lisa, this isn't the time or place."
"But it's always the place, isn't it?" Lisa's laughter held a bitter edge. "You think you can just get rid of me that easy, Keith? Replacing me with her?
Keith's has had enough and loses it. "Lisa, get the hell off my property. We're done."
But Lisa wasn't finished. She leaned in, her words were vicious an venomous. "I'll make sure everyone knows your precious Keith isn't as perfect as he seems."
