SPRING BREAK CONNECTIONS 1

 UNIVERSITY BOOKSTORE - DAY (MARCH 2001)

Spring break has just ended. Students hanging around campus with fresh outfits and new energy. BRITNEY WILLIAMS (21), a confident senior with natural beauty and street smarts, walks out of the bookstore carrying textbooks.


JUNIOR THOMPSON (23), laid-back with an handsome smile, accidentally bumps into Britney as he’s looking at his down at his Blackberry. 


JUNIOR: Oh, my bad! Let me help you with those.


He bends down to pick up her scattered books.


BRITNEY: (laughing) It’s cool. 


JUNIOR: Spring break?


BRITNEY: Yeah, went back home for spring break to see my family. You?


JUNIOR:?  Oh naw, I’m not in school. But I’m Junior.


BRITNEY: Britney. Nice to meet you, Junior.


JUNIOR: You have a number I call you on?


BRITNEY: I don’t know? you not crazy uhh?


JUNIOR: (laughs) No beautiful. 


BRITNEY: (415)-903-2025 I don’t answer after twelve. 


JUNIOR: Cool I’ll call you later. 


They talk on the phone he would occasionally stop by the university and see her for a quick minute before her next classes begins. 


JUNIOR: You hungry? If so there’s this spot off campus that makes the best burgers after you are done with class.


BRITNEY: Yeah I would love that. See you then. 



LOCAL DINER - CONTINUOUS


Junior and Britney sit across from each other in a booth. The chemistry is immediate.


BRITNEY: So what do you do when you’re not running into college girls?


JUNIOR: (grinning) Work at my uncle’s auto shop. Saving up to get my own place. Right now I’m staying with my parents.


BRITNEY: Nothing wrong with that. I’m about to graduate in two months and still don’t know what’s next.


JUNIOR: What’s your major?


BRITNEY: Business. But honestly, I just want to own my business and be my own boss, you know?


JUNIOR: Yeah I feel you on that.

JUNIOR’S PARENTS’ HOUSE - KITCHEN - DAY (WEEKS LATER)


Junior’s parents, MR. and MRS. THOMPSON (50s), has the welcoming, chat with Britney over breakfast.


MRS. THOMPSON: Britney, you’re welcome here anytime, honey.


MR. THOMPSON: That’s right. First Lady friend we met of Junior’s and you look like a nice young lady. 


BRITNEY: Thank you. 


Junior has a big smile on his face. 


JUNIOR’S PARENTS’ HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - LATER


Junior talks on the cordless phone while Britney studies on the couch nearby.


JUNIOR: (into phone)Yeah, Corey, she’s cool people… We planning on catching a movie Thursday night? She might have a friend for you big dog?


He looks over at Britney, who’s listening with interest.


JUNIOR: (CONT’D) Actually, hold up. Let me ask her something.


He covers the phone.


JUNIOR: (CONT’D) Brit, hey your girl still need a date for Thursday night? My boy Corey’s is available.


BRITNEY: Michelle? 


JUNIOR: The one that you talked about the other day. You said she has an attitude or something- yeah Michelle.


BRITNEY: (laughing) He better be ready for all that energy.


JUNIOR: (back to phone) Yeah, man, it’s all good. But I must warned you her friend has a attitude.


MOVIE THEATER - NIGHT (THURSDAY)


Junior and Britney exit the theater with COREY (23), Junior’s best friend, and MICHELLE (21), Britney’s sassy college friend.


MICHELLE: That movie was trash.


COREY: Come on, it wasn’t that bad.


MICHELLE: Boy please. I’ve seen better acting in music videos.


Corey and Michelle continue with their movie disagreements as they walk to the car.


BRITNEY: (to Junior) They might be perfect for each other - both stubborn as hell.


COREY: Yo bro, grab some food?


MICHELLE: Yeah I’m with you on that.


Junior pulls up to the drive thru at McDonald’s. 


INT. JUNIOR’S PARENTS’ HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - LATER


They made it back to Juniors house and inside their was a note on the kitchen table. 


JUNIOR: (reading the note) Oh word? They’re staying in Atlanta till Sunday for my aunt’s wedding.


BRITNEY: So we got the house to ourselves?


JUNIOR: Looks like it.


They exchange a look that suggests the weekend is about to get interesting.


The four friends are eating takeout and laughing. The vibe is relaxed and fun.


BRITNEY: Junior, your mom left some instructions didn’t she?


JUNIOR: (embarrassed) Maybe.


COREY: Man, your moms still treats you like you’re twelve.
