The Tail under the Bed | Pt. 2 SuperMouse

It was a cool Saturday morning in September when April woke up early to start her day.

Woman standing in doorway looking at a mouse while husband in bed

Fresh out the bed quietly making her way towards the bathroom trying not to wake Mike from his deep sleep.

April turned on the hallway light.

That’s when she saw a glimpse of something that looked like a roach or something of that nature run across the floor. She bushed it off and didn’t think no more about it.

Until she opened the bathroom door.

That’s when she seen what she thought was a roach at first. No it was a mouse that had been playing hide and go seek with them for three days. It was running alongside the hallway baseboard towards the kitchen.

April shouted so loud it woke up the everything and everyone in the house, even the mouse stopped running and turned around and said “damn you gotta big mouth.”

Everyone hears her scream and comes running out their rooms.

“What the hell going on why are you screaming?”Mike asked.

What you mean why I’m screaming. That damn mouse just ran towards the kitchen.  If you would’ve caught that darn mouse I wouldn’t be in here screaming.” April shouted.

Mike had been trying to catch that mouse for days.

From the guillotine traps, sticky traps even homemade sticky traps and bait boxes everywhere around the inside and outside the house it’s looks like the board game mouse trap with the mouse is one step ahead of him and his booby traps.

One afternoon Mike was home early and decided to put together his Cheers bar theme for his man cave and needed some scissors to cut the box open.

He looked all around his man cave and couldn’t find any and it dawned on him that there were a pair in the kitchen drawer.

He went outside and walked over to the house went in the kitchen and opened the kitchen drawer to get the scissors.

Soon as he opened the drawer the mouse jumped out like it had a red cape on it’s back flying towards Mike, and he starts doing the matrix, waving and screaming.

“ohh shit,” Mike shouted out as he watched Super Mouse landed face first directly on one of Mikes homemade sticky pad.

Super Mouse hit that pad and just laid there like.

 “Well damn, you got me.”

Didn’t even struggle.

Just accepted his fate like a mouse who knew the game was rigged from the jump.

Mike backed up against the counter still catching his breath, one hand on his chest the other hand rubbing his head.

April came running in from the living room asking what happened now, and Mike just pointed at the drawer.

“What the drawer scared you?” April asked.

“No, that damn mouse,” Mike said, “just took flight like a superhero flying out the drawer.”

April looked down at the sticky pad, then back at Mike.

“You’re telling me the mouse that had you doing the matrix in my kitchen just did some superhero leap on to that sticky thingy?”

“Yes ma’am I watched my life flash before my eyes it was going for my neck.”

April burst out laughing.

The mouse was still stuck and calm it let out as a sigh. Like even it was tired of the drama.

Three days of hide and seek and it ends with the mouse faceplanting into glue like it took the wrong escape route straight to the sticky pad.

Mike stood there for a good minute deciding if he was brave enough to pick the pad up.

April just shook her head, grabbed a paper towel, bent down to scooped it up herself but a little jerk from the mouse she dropped the paper towel and screamed all the way back to the bedroom.

“y’all are both dramatic.” Mike said with laughter.

Mighty Mouse got released into the outside trash can with its dignity mostly intact but the red cape was nowhere to be found.
