Marcy had been working as a housekeeper in the hotel for the past year. It was usually a tireless job but it paid the bills. As Marcy cleaned up the room of her latest guest, she noticed a $100 bill sitting atop the pillow along with a small note that read: "Be back at 7:00 pm. I got something special for you".
At first, Marcy thought nothing of the note, assuming it was just a kind joke from the guest. But when she returned to the room that evening, Marcy felt something that gave her chills and started thinking. What could this guest have that’s so "special”. She slowly opened the door to find a dark room lit only by the soft light from the lamp standing in the corner of the room. On the bed sat an open box with a single red rose and another $100 bill.
Marcy was deeply offended by the suggestion that she wouldn’t go that way for the money. She quickly grabbed the money off the bed and ran out the the room. Even though it would have been helpful to have the extra money, she could not bring herself to stoop so low. On her way out, she slammed the door and said, "I'm not that kind of woman".
Little did Marcy know, the guest had actually intended to surprise her with an early holiday tip for all her hard work for cleaning their room each time they visited over the year. In the end, it was Marcy who made the final decision to not accept the gift and as a result, they both had wrong ideas.
