Once upon a time, there was a woman named Sarah who worked as a housekeeper at a hotel. She had always been an honest person, but when her sister's rent was due and she was struggling to pay, Sarah saw an opportunity to get some extra cash.
Sarah concocted a plan to tell her employer that her sister had tragically passed away. With tears in her eyes, Sarah informed her boss that she needed time off to attend the funeral and take care of her sister's affairs.
The hotel owner, in an act of sympathy and kindness, offered Sarah grievance pay to help her during this difficult time. Sarah accepted the money and split it with her sister, who was very much alive.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Sarah carried on with her life, living with the lie she had told. However, little did she know that the general manager overheard two employees talking saying:
Employee 1: Girl, did you see did you see the dead person at card game last.
Employee 2: Dead wrong for that wig she wearing and I won some of that dirty grievance money girl.
After the general manager overheard the two employees she called the owner and told him what she heard. They kept a close eye on Sarah and as a few weeks passed we started to taken notice of her strange behavior and had started investigating the situation.
It wasn't until month later that Sarah received a phone call from her employer asking to come into the office. As she sat across from her boss, she knew it was all over.
Her employer had found out that her sister was not dead, and the lie Sarah had told was unacceptable. Sarah was terminated in the meeting, and the grievance pay was to be paid back immediately.
In the end, Sarah had learned that honesty was always the best policy and that the consequences of her actions were not worth the price she paid.
