The Unintended Recipient 1

Man-holding-up-phone-showing-text

Joseph's phone buzzed, interrupting his evening routine. He looked at the screen, expecting a message from his girlfriend about what’s for dinner. Instead, his heart skipped a beat as he read the shocking words: "Oh no momma died."

Nervous and confused as Joseph frantically texted back, "What the hell happened?" Trying to figure things out, thinking to himself that he just talked to her a few hours ago. Was this some kind of cruel joke?

The reply was fast: "Just now!"

Still stunned, Joseph began requesting for more information. "Where are you now?"

The response had him more confused: "At the hospital? Really?"

He took a deep breath and texted back, "Who is this? I think you text the wrong number?"

Then it was about ten minutes had passed before the next text message came through: "Oh sh…..! I'm sorry for that."

With a sign of relief Joseph realized that they had wrong number. He had sympathy for the stranger who sent the wrong text message.

"It's ok sorry for your loss," Joseph replied, showing respect and offering some comfort to the unknown texter.

Joseph set his phone down, he couldn't shake the feeling that he had when texting the unknown caller. That he picked his phone and dialed his mother's number, suddenly feeling the need to hear her voice.
