Trying To See Something
Melvin woke up at 8:30 AM with Angela on his mind. The conversation from yesterday at the restaurant and last night felt like a dream, but the screenshot he’d taken of her message proved it was real. He’d actually done it—by getting the woman in his dreams but in real life.
He grabbed his phone and typed:
Melvin: GM
Her response came back within minutes:
Angela: GM
His heart started beating fast like he was sixteen again. This was it—their first morning as a couple. He wanted to see her.
Melvin: Can I come see you this morning?
Angela:: Yes.
That response had him moving faster than he had in months. Shower, teeth brushed, his good cologne—the one he saved for special occasions. He threw on a fresh white tee and some stone washed jeans shorts, fitted cap grabbed his keys, and headed out.
The drive to Angela’s place felt like it took forever and no time at all. When he pulled up to her apartment complex, he was a little nervous. He parked and sent the text:
Melvin: Outside.
The front door opened, and there she was.
Angela stepped out wearing a white shirt that was tight and showed her curves that left little to no imagination, her hair hung down to her shoulders, looking like every fantasy he’d ever had about a woman who knew exactly what she wanted.
Melvin: “Damn!”
She leaned against her doorframe with a smile that brightened grey days.
Angela: “You said you wanted the real deal. This is me being real.”
Melvin walked toward her, feeling like the luckiest man alive. Whatever happened next, he knew one thing for certain—this was going to be the start of something unforgettable.
To be continued…
