Episode 6: “The Final Warning”

Three days later, Paul violated the restraining order that had finally been served. He showed up at Niesha’s job at 6 AM, waiting by her car with flowers and a teddy bear.

Hospital security called the police, and Paul was arrested. But he made bail within four hours.

By noon, he was calling Niesha’s phone from different numbers.

when Niesha showed him the call log.

Marcus: “That’s it, legal consequences his ass.

Marcus doesn’t understand nothing but street consequences.

Niesha: “Marcus, please—”

Marcus: “Nah, Niesha. I’m done. Dre’s done. Even Nick’s done, and he just met you.”

Nick had been spending more time at Niesha the house, partly because he was concerned that Paul might crash out, and partly because he and Niesha had been getting closer despite the circumstances.

Nick: “What are you thinking about Marcus?”

Marcus: “I’m thinking we should have that talk with Paul.”

Nick: “What you think we been doing?”

Marcus: “No fool the kind of talk where he understands that if he keeps this up, he’s going to disappear.”

Niesha: “Marcus—”

Marcus: “No, Niesha. This fool got arrested this morning and was back to harassing you by lunch. He doesn’t care about restraining orders. He don’t care about jail. He don’t care about nothing but being with you no matter what. Then it’s going to be if I can’t have you nobody can.”

Nick was quiet for a moment.

Nick: “What if we could make him care?”

Marcus: “What the hell is this dude talking about and you post to be my sister knight in shining armor?”

Nick: “You Funny, but what if we could make him scared to the point that the next time he comes near Niesha, he won’t be dealing with police or restraining orders or even you guys?”

Marcus: “You ass you just said what I said but in another way?”

Nick: “I’m talking about making him understand that some problems can just disappear.”

Dre looked up from his phone.

Dre: “You talking about really scaring him?”

Nick: “Making him understand reality.”

“What reality?”

“The reality that when you terrorize someone’s sister, daughter, or woman, eventually you run into people who don’t care about consequences.”

Marcus with a sarcastic look on his face.

Marcus: “Niesha I love you to death and if you get in a situation like this again Do Not Call Nick.”

Nick: “But anyway I got my people for the job.”

Marcus: “What people? You not build like that.

Niesha: “Marcus—“

Dre: “Damn!”

Nick pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts.

Nick: “You can be next. A two for one. Like I said before I know some people who specialize in having talks with people who seem to don’t understand boundaries.”

Marcus: “Yeah right, What kind of people?cause we know you not like that.”

Nick: “The kind that make problems and people that talk to much disappear without a trace.”

Niesha looked worried.

Niesha: “Nick, I don’t want anyone to get hurt.”

Nick: “What you mean nobody’s going to get hurt but Paul and your big mouth brother.”

Marcus stood up and stepped face to face with Nick.

Marcus: “Who you calling big mouth. I knock your ass out and Paul.

Nick: “Do it. Then he’ll learn why most people don’t talk about my family know like my first cousin Big Tony.”

Marcus and Dre exchanged glances.

“Big Tony?”

Marcus: “Big Tony is your first cousin this just keeps on getting better. What else you got dude?

Niesha shook her head.

Niesha: “I don’t want anyone to get hurt because of me.”

Nick: “Nobody’s going to get hurt because of you, Paul’s going to get hurt because of Paul. Marcus is going to get hurt for talking sporty. Because we gave them multiple warnings and they made the choice to keep talking smack.”

Marcus: “Boy I’ll……chill”

Nick: “You’ll do what….nothing just like I thought.

“Tony would explain that Paul has a choice. He can move to another city and start over, or he can find out what happens to men who won’t leave women alone.”

Dre: “Okay, well whats the first step?

Marcus was nodding.

Marcus: “When can we meet BigTony?”

Nick: “We don’t meet BigTony. Tony meets Paul.”

Marcus: “Here we go again how you going to make work?”

Nick: “I call Big Tony and tell him I have a problem. Then I give him the information on the Paul. Then let Big Tony do what he do. He’ll probably convince him to get out of the state and find residence elsewhere or stop breathing. Usually, people choose to keep breathing.”

Neisha looked at Nick with a mixture of fear and relief.

Niesha: “You would do that for me?”

Nick steps closer to Niesha.

Nick: “Yes, beautiful and anybody else who can’t take no for an answer.”

Niesha pulls Nick close to her and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Niesha: “And you think Paul would listen?”

Marcus: “Oh my goodness. I’m out of here call me with new information”.

Dre: “I’m going to leave you to love birds alone”.

Nick: “Okay brother in law”.

Dre: “Don’t push it”.

Nick turns back looking at Niesha

Nick: “Now were we, oh yeah I think Paul would understand that he’s dealing with someone that could make him disappear for good.”

Nick and Niesha shared a kiss then Nick’s phone rings. Paul’s name appeared on the screen.

“Speak of the devil,” Nick said, answering the call.
