A Fire As Date 6.5

(Interlude) The Phone Call

Nick: “Hello?”

Paul: “Nick, I need to talk to you.”

Nick: “I’m listening.”

Paul: “Not on the phone. In person.”

Nick: “Where?”

Paul: “You know where.”

The line went dead. Marcus and Dre stop and turned and looked at Nick.

Nick: “He wants to meet.”

Dre: “Where?”

Nick: “The same place we talked before. Morrison’s Hardware.”

Marcus: “You want us to come?”

Nick: “No. Im going to call Tony on my way over there.”

Nick headed for the door, then stopped and looked back at Niesha.

Nick: “After tonight, this is over. One way or another.”

Niesha: “Promise me you’ll be careful.”

“I promise I’ll be smart and dangerous.”

Niesha: “What’s the difference?”

Nick: “Careful means avoiding trouble. Smart and dangerous means ending it.”
