"The Art of Envy"

"The Art of Envy"

Jake had been working in the construction business for over a decade and had seen it all. From the most important builds to the simplest ones, Jake knew every trick in the book to ensure success. So when he needed help with a new project he looked for his best friend Adam, Jake knew it was his responsibility to show him the ropes.

His new partner, Adam, seemed eager to learn the trade, and Jake was happy to share his expertise. Day after day, Jake patiently explained the dos and don'ts of the job, making sure Adam understood every step of the process. Jake's kindness soon led to a strong bond between the two.

However, Adam had a flaw in his personality. He was always jealous of Jake's success, he wanted the money and the nice house with beautiful wife which often showed in the form of snarky comments. Jake shrugged it off as nothing, but Adam's behavior started to get out of hand.

One day, when Jake showed up to work, Adam had a sneaky grin on his face. Jake asked him have you seen my keys and what’s wrong with you face, but Adam dismissed his inquiry and answered no I haven’t seen your keys as he continued finishing his work. Little did he know that Adam had taken his keys to go and make duplicates. Later, Jake's girlfriend, Amy, called him, and the call seemed tense. Jake's curiosity grew, and he asked her if something was wrong.

Amy hesitated for a moment before asking Jake has he been home cause it’s a mess Jake says no I haven’t seen my keys since yesterday Amy. There’s also something else Jake your uncle had came over to fix the car and brought Adam with him and he had shown me pictures of you Jake with other women. Then he said I should be with him and not you. Jake's heart sank as he realized what had been happening. Jake started putting things together he took my keys and been in my house and other places.

Jake confronted Adam, and the tension escalated. Adam knew he had been caught and refused to apologized. However, Jake knew he couldn't continue working with someone who he thought was a good friend but was a snake who wanted his position and didn't have his best interests.

Although the situation had taken a turn for the worse, Jake took the opportunity to speak some final words of wisdom to Adam. He reminded him that envy is toxic and that one should always strive to learn from others rather than feel resentful.

In the end, Jake went on to build some of the most successful buildings in the city. As for Adam, well, he had to learn the hard way that a lack of ethics and jealousy can have serious consequences.

Note:

It's a common phrase we hear all the time - "watch who you call your friend". But how many of us truly understand the weight of those words? Your friends are supposed to be the people you can trust and rely on, but sometimes they turn out to be anything but that. It's important to be cautious when choosing who you let into your inner circle, because that same friend you confide in and share your secrets with could end up being the one to stab you in the back. Don't take your friendships for granted and always keep an eye out for any red flags. Your well-being is worth more than a toxic friendship.
