John had been married to his wife Amy for eight years when things started to take a turn. He noticed she was bringing home different kinds of herbs and powders, saying they were part of a spiritual ritual to make their love last forever.
At first, he was touched by her commitment and enthusiasm. But then, John noticed that strange flavors were showing up in his food little ornaments, around the bed, and a clear potion in his bath water. After looking further into what was going on, he learned that Amy had been secretly going to see a church pastor and was told to start putting the spiritual powder in his food and water and burning candles and all types of different relics around the house.
John had enough to take action. He wasn’t comfortable with this strange intrusion and decided that divorce was the best solution. When John confronted Amy, she was surprised as she hadn’t intended for John to find out about her efforts.
It was a difficult decision for both of them, but in the end, John felt it was the best for both of them. Even though it was sad and hard, John and Amy divorced and moved on with their lives.
Till this day John still doesn’t know what was in the spiritual powder, but he has no doubt it wasn’t something he was willing to have in his food or bath water. Though he may never know what his wife was trying to do, he’s thankful for the lesson learned - to never accept something you don’t understand.
I feel like there is a lesson to be learned in that lovely story.
