"SORTING THE TRASH, SEEKING ROMANCE”

About a hotel houseman going through the trash title-"Sorting the Trash, Seeking Romance"

Mike had been working as a hotel houseman for years, and every day he had the same mundane task. Check-out day meant cleaning and refreshing each of the rooms for new guests, including the sometimes-disgusting task of taking out the trash. However, for Mike this was a time for his own amusement; he was on the lookout for anything interesting among the discarded items in the trash bins. He was particularly excited when he stumbled across something that caused his heart to beat a bit faster. Latex.

Sometimes, if he was lucky, he’d find one that was unopened, and he’d get an added thrill out of it. He imagined the passionate, and likely sinful, events that had taken place the night before, which was confirmed by the single remaining evidence. What he doesn’t know is that maintenance and a housekeeper is standing in the hallway looking through a partially shut door they see him and then he says BAD GIRL! BAD GIRL!! And chuckled to himself and imagining all the naughty things that were going on in his hotel and he delighted in his own little voyeuristic show.

It wasn’t like he was being nosy or judging the guests for their indiscretions. He was merely enjoying the innocent pleasure of using his imagination to fill in the gaps of a rather tantalizing story. I bet he has a closet full of secrets.

And, who knows, perhaps Mike found solace in these tiny, discarded latex that seemed to confirm what he’d always wanted to believe. That true love, if you worked hard and had patience, it could happen in even the strangest of places.

Though his job was often mundane and tiring, for Mike, every nice-looking woman that checked out the hotel that day trash bin had its own unique surprise.
