How Three Dates Led to a Caffeine Crisis
As I sat across from her for the fourth time, I couldn't help but feel my eyes start to glaze over. The coffee in front of me looked less and less appealing as the seconds ticked by. Would it wrong of me to be upset that she wanted another coffee date? I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed spending time with her. But at this point, my caffeine tolerance had reached its limit.
I tried to make conversation, but my mind was already drifting off. I couldn't help but wonder if she could tell how disinterested I was becoming. The aroma of coffee that had once been so alluring now made my head throb.
I took a deep breath and trying to refocus. Maybe we could try something different next time? Perhaps we could take a walk in the park or go see a movie. But then, she turned to me with a big grin and said, "So, how do you feel about meeting at a new coffee place next week?"
What! My heart sank. It wasn't her fault, of course. She couldn't have known that my coffee tank was running on empty. But I just couldn't do it anymore. I mustered up the courage to just tell her the truth.
"I'm sorry," beautiful I said. "I know this sounds ridiculous, but I think I'm all coffee-ed out. Maybe we could try something different next time?"
To my surprise, she laughed and nodded in agreement. "I know the feeling," she said. "Let's do something fun and new."
We left the coffee shop and spent the rest of the day exploring the city, trying new things and enjoying each other's company. It was a refreshing change of pace, and I knew that this was the start of something special.
From that day forward, we continued to try new things and step out of our comfort zones. And even though we would still occasionally grab a cup of coffee, it was never the same old routine. We both learned that sometimes, it's good to shake things up and take a chance on something new.
