The Incident in Suite Seventeen

Hotel housekeeper-The Incident in Suite Seventeen

Every day, for a whole week, John Lewis, a software tycoon visiting a popular hotel for a tech conference, would request Maria Alvarez, a humble housekeeper, to clean his suite. It wasn't the palatial comfort of the hotel or the luxuriant lifestyle it had to offer that made John extend his stay. Rather, it was the daily touch of care and concern Maria displayed in cleaning his suite that kept him coming back. John showed his appreciation through a generous tip of $40 daily. This sum was a welcome blessing to Maria who used every extra penny to support her family back home.

One particular day, John left his iPhone on the bedside table while rushing for an early morning meeting. Meanwhile, Maria came in for her daily cleaning and, seeing the expensive gadget lying around, a surge of temptation coursed through her. Struggling financially, she decided to succumb to her longing, pocketing the iPhone.

Upon his return, John discovered his iPhone missing and alerted the hotel staff, leading to a thorough search. Unbeknownst to everyone, the perpetrator was Maria, who was actively assisting in the search for the phone she herself had stolen.

As Maria wrapped up her shift that day and proceeded to clock out, a surreal occurrence threw her off guard. The hotel manager called John's iPhone and to everyone's surprise, the ringtone emanating from Maria's purse betrayed her deceit. A conspicuous and eccentric 'duck ringtone' resonated across the room, sounding her shame like a warning siren.

The phone rang again and again, echoing loudly in the hollow silence of the room, its rhythmic 'quack quack' rising into an obnoxious symphony that marked Maria's downfall. In the midst of those disapproving eyes and pointed fingers, Maria realized she had traded her integrity for an iPhone and was now forced to face the consequences of her ill-conceived action. Her daily tip turned into a bitter memory, her reputation in shambles, she had only the painful resonance of that duck ringtone to remind her of her disgrace.
